On September 8, Sue, Joy, Cheryl and Audrey journeyed to downtown Phoenix to deliver all the goods we had collected for Justa Center over the summer. We were met by several “members” of the center who quickly unloaded our vans and invited us inside to tour their facility. Barbara Lewkowitz, the executive director, met with us and gave us a very comprehensive, enthusiastic tour of their organization. We were very impressed with the positive attitudes of everyone we met and their determination to assist in all ways possible to solve the problem of homelessness. We learned that this day center (7am-3pm) serves 140-160, over 55 year old people a day, and cooperates with other agencies in the area to supply needed services.
